Over the course of 22 days in January, a gradual recovery in the volume of grain cargo transfers at the Romanian border was observed. This became possible after the completion of investigative actions by law enforcement agencies, which had negatively impacted exports through this border. During this period, the transfer volume increased by 93.3% to 9.86 railcars per day compared to December.
At border crossings with Slovakia and Hungary, a decline in railcar transfer volumes was recorded—by 26.8% and 8.3%, respectively—to 23.1 railcars per day and 38.5 railcars per day. At the Polish border, the indicator slightly decreased to 38.54 railcars per day.
The overall average daily transfer of grain cargo and meal currently stands at 170 railcars per day.
Over the first three weeks of January, the number of railcars heading toward the ports of Odesa decreased by 23% to 5,623 units. Meanwhile, the average daily unloading rate of railcars increased by 13.5% to 1,404 railcars per day. Railcar accumulation toward the port of Izmail declined by 40.6% to 219 railcars, while the unloading rate of grain railcars dropped by 14% to 43 railcars per day.
Rail freight rates remain stable, with the market awaiting a tariff distance recalculation on February 1–2.
