Ukrainian Railways (JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”) has announced the potential revision of freight tariffs to Izmail station — one of the key hubs on the Danube corridor.
Freight volumes to this destination have increased 4.5 times over the past year, placing additional pressure on the infrastructure. However, the company emphasized that no decisions regarding tariff changes have been made so far — the discussion is analytical in nature and does not imply the immediate introduction of new rates.
Against this backdrop, rail shipments of grain continue to show positive momentum: in the first 10 days of June, volumes rose by nearly 5% compared to the same period in May. The largest grain volumes were dispatched from the Odesa, Dnipro, and Kharkiv regional divisions. Among the leading port directions were Chornomorsk, Mykolaiv, and Pivdennyi, which may indicate a partial redirection of cargo flows from Izmail to Black Sea ports, as cargo owners adjust their logistics strategies.
Domestic rail freight rates have remained stable compared to the previous period.
