WORLD
- China has suspended soybean shipments from at least five Brazilian companies due to non-compliance with sanitary requirements. This marks an unexpected turn in the global supply chain amid escalating geopolitical tensions between the U.S. and China, following President Donald Trump’s threats to reinstate tariffs on Chinese imports.
EUROPE
- Corn imports to the EU from July 1 to January 19 amounted to 11 million tons, which is 4% more compared to the same period last year. Ukraine’s share in total imports decreased to 56% (from 58.8% a year ago), as did Brazil’s share — to 14.7% (from 26.5%). Meanwhile, the US significantly expanded its presence in the EU market, increasing its share to 16% (from 1% a year ago).
- Soybean imports during the same period amounted to 7.9 million tons, which is 15% more than last year. Ukraine’s share in soybean imports reached 11.1% (up from 8% a year ago). The absolute volume rose to 0.88 million tons (compared to 0.55 million tons a year ago). The shares of the US and Brazil were 51% and 31.2%, respectively (compared to 54.5% and 26.8% a year ago). The absolute volumes from these countries also increased — 4 million tons and 2.4 million tons, respectively (compared to 3.7 million tons and 1.8 million tons a year ago).
COMMODITY MARKET
CORN
Corn prices on the domestic market continue to show positive dynamics, driven by strong activity both domestically and internationally. In the ports of Odesa, prices have increased on average by $4-5 to $214-215 DAP. Buyers are actively contracting for March, indicating steady demand and a desire to lock in prices amid potential market volatility.

SUNFLOWER
Sunflower seed prices continue to rise due to steady demand from processors. Over the past week, the price of sunflower seeds with 46% oil content has increased by an average of 400–500 UAH. Although producers have increased supply, the volume remains insufficient to meet the needs of processing plants.

Market prices for meal:
- DAP Ukraine (Odesa) ~203-205$

SOYBEANS
The European market is preparing for the arrival of new-crop Brazilian soybeans, with active shipments expected in the second half of February. Brazil aims to strengthen its position as the world’s leading supplier, actively competing with the United States, which also exports significant volumes of soybeans to the EU. This poses a direct challenge to Ukrainian producers, as competing with cheaper Brazilian and American soybeans on the European market is becoming increasingly difficult.
